PSK...just a short recap

So the other night was Nicki Hunters birthday and Rico Montana's release party for Hot Butter Porn's new DVD. I hadn't been to Sardos since school started. So it was nice to see everyone. Amongst the guests were Powder, Tony Bones, Tucker Slain, Tee Reel, Sophie Dee Lee Bang, Tommy Gunn and others.

The VIP section was packed and spilled out onto the tables. Rico brought a bunch of sexy nurses with him (yes real nurses) who were a wild and crazy ...One of the fans bought all of us ladies a few rounds of drinks which he was thanked for by a few girls (xoxo)...Later every one sang happy birthday to Niki while she blew out the candles on her birthday cake....and I think someone got a lap dance that night...everyone else got free porn...the night was filled with amazing singers and some not so amazing, but that's karaoke for you...

My two drink limit of the night turned into too many more by the time I was done it was closing time, so a few of us headed around the corner to Bobs Big Boy (tony drove lol)...I didnt know that place still was around...we sat there until 530am...eating our really bad eggs and drinking our coffee...until i was sober enough to drive home (thanks guys).

If  you have never been to Porn Star Karaoke on Tuesday nights at Sardos you must check it out. Hot servers, hot porn stars and all out fun people. They give away free porn too...

DO YOUR JOB

When working in the medical field you are responsible for people’s lives. One wrong decision can injure or potentially kill someone. This weekend I picked up a shift (won’t mention where) and I ran into probably the worst paramedic I have seen in 5 years…
We respond to a call around 2100 for a person who has been down for approximately 2 hours. When fire opened the door the front entry was full of blood and a woman was lying on the ground. Her face was swollen and covered in blood. She was awake and able to respond (Spanish speaking only). My partner and me we setting up the backboard and gurney preparing to C-spine her, when the medic tells us no neck or back pain no c-spine.  The guys pick her up and put her on our gurney. The captain then yells out she smells like ETOH (she’d been drinking alcohol) so we need to C-spine her.
Another call goes out in the area so the medic asks if they could leave and go to the other call (without assessing the patient fully) the captain says no they need to follow up (which means to ride along with us ALS). He rolls his eyes and says fine.
We get the patient in the back of the rig one medic jumps in the back and just sits there doing nothing. I tell my partner to start cleaning her up to see where the blood is coming from. The medic gets on the phone and contacts the base hospital. He tells the hospital that he doesn’t understand why his captain wants him to follow up and that the patient was stable vitals were good (before the vitals were taken) she was NSR on the monitor (they had not set her up on the monitor) he had not even assessed the patient.
We ended up taking the patient by ourselves BLS … We reported the neglect to the nurse.
Regardless if the patient was BLS or not look at the patient before that decision is made…
The patient was hypovolemic, hypotensive, had a fractured hip and a broken nose and a possible skull fracture.

nursing school update

so I am almost done with the first semester...so far i think i have broke down in tears about 3 times...from all the stress...I finished my pharmacology class yesterday, if i passed or not is still up in the air...this is one of the hardest things i have ever done in my life...just with stress from school, financial issues, not being able to work as much as i would like...having little to no social life....but amongst all the stress it is also a wonderful fun exciting experience...
Taking care of patients and learning about diseases, and how I can help make a difference in their lives, by just being there....
Being an EMT for about 5 years I was on the verge (if not already there) of burn out...I was sick of all the bullshit calls, people abusing the system, being treated like i am nothing...(it happens)...
but now...I am learning new information and changing not only what I know, but how I have to think about things...I am only in the first semester but i can already tell the difference of how i look at a situation....

I cant wait to look back when i am all done and say ...remember when...

And i just want to say thank you to all of those who have and continue to give me encouragement...It means the world to me knowing that you are there every step of the way with me...

some new ones for you

my weekend

So the weekend was fun irritating and crazy…Friday I went for a job out in the valley, had dinner with the super sexy Tony Bones…who by the way is the best interpretive dancer I know…(when I do go back to PSK you should check us out), anyway….
While I am gone my roommate tells me he is going to pick up his friend…which really means at least 3 friends…ok I am cool with that…as long as they keep it down while I was studying…which they did…
Saturday morning I woke up to three girls sleeping on my living room floor and a house full of empty beer cans, and dirty dishes…I couldn’t make coffee because there was way too much in my way…and who ever knows me I’m not so sweet without my coffee
So I go outside to smoke a cigarette and one of the girls follows me out there…while we were talking she begins to go into a full body seizure…fuck…
I am yelling for any one of the girls to wake up to come help me out, because the way she was positioned she was going to hit her head on my concrete wall…I’m holding her head when they finally come outside…I told one of them that if she keeps going we were going to half to call for the fire department…
We end up calling 911 because her seizure lasted for a good min and a half…
I picked her up after she stopped and brought her inside…(yes I’m strong lol)…
I had one of the girls run up and grab my roommate so he could move the furniture around so the FD had a place to put the gurney…
They came, I gave a quick report with what I knew about her…and they left…this was all before 9am…
Later my roommate goes to the hospital to pick her up and bring her back (she was fine by the way, she has seizures all the time)…
when they come back my brother asked me if I want to go out to dinner with our friend Eric who just came back from Afghanistan. Who I hadn’t seen in months…which was good to see him…alive (after he had been blown up over there)…
So I had only a few hours to study…
When we (my brother and I) came back from dinner, we walked into another party…which was not planned…I had to finish studying for my quiz on Monday…
They were so loud downstairs at 11pm I had to leave the house…I went to Dennys for a bit to have some coffee and hopefully read…which didn’t work either because I guess they were having a party too…the music was soooooo loud…
so I was about to leave when my server kindly stopped me, turned down the music and moved me to a quite table…
So I got to read for an hour before all the drunk people came in…
When I came home the party was still raging…I tried to sleep a little because I had a shoot the next day…so I wasn’t going to be able to study again…
(The shoot was fun it was at this garage that housed a bunch of old corvettes…I can’t wait for the pics)
I came home around 7pm and my brother and roommate were on the couch…the place was spotless…they knew I was frustrated…
I opened the books to study some more, but ended up falling asleep…waking up to my alarm screaming at me to get the fuck up…
So the whole weekend I probably spent about 5 hours in the books….you think that’s a long time right? Not for nursing school…I should be spending at least 9 hours a day reading…
All in all I failed my quiz…
So I had a long talk with my roommate when I came home…I basically told him no more parties at the house until school is done, otherwise I will move out and live in my truck again…if I’m not working I should be in the books…I have spent 12 years trying to get into this program…and now its here…I cant fuck up any more…
Ok break time over back to the books
Thanks for listening to my venting
xoxo

HIV

Since this seems to be the topic for discussion this week...lets talk about HIV...it is not just a homosexual thing its a straight thing as well...People are putting the blame on homosexuality in the industry, but it does not just effect homosexuality it effects everyone. Those who go out and are careless, who have sex without a condom with those people who are not tested are putting themselves and everyone else at risk.

Prevention is the key....no glove no love...use condoms in your personal life if you are going to be in the Porn industry, even if your not....HIV is not something to joke about...It is not something that should be wished on anyone...educate yourself on STDs and stop making accusations without the facts

This is a straight copy from the mayo clinic http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hiv-aids

"To become infected with HIV, infected blood, semen or vaginal secretions must enter your body. You can't become infected through ordinary contact — hugging, kissing, dancing or shaking hands — with someone who has HIV or AIDS. HIV can't be transmitted through the air, water or via insect bites.
You can become infected with HIV in several ways, including:
  • During sex. You may become infected if you have vaginal, anal or oral sex with an infected partner whose blood, semen or vaginal secretions enter your body. The virus can enter your body through mouth sores or small tears that sometimes develop in the rectum or vagina during sexual activity.
  • Blood transfusions. In some cases, the virus may be transmitted through blood transfusions. American hospitals and blood banks now screen the blood supply for HIV antibodies, so this risk is very small.
  • Sharing needles. HIV can be transmitted through needles and syringes contaminated with infected blood. Sharing intravenous drug paraphernalia puts you at high risk of HIV and other infectious diseases such as hepatitis.
  • From mother to child. Infected mothers can infect their babies during pregnancy or delivery, or through breast-feeding. But if women receive treatment for HIV infection during pregnancy, the risk to their babies is significantly

When HIV/AIDS first surfaced in the United States, it predominantly affected homosexual men. The type of HIV found in many African nations is more easily spread through heterosexual sex. Anyone of any age, race, sex or sexual orientation can be infected, but you're at greatest risk of HIV/AIDS if you:
  • Have unprotected sex. Unprotected sex means having sex without using a new latex or polyurethane condom every time. Anal sex is more risky than is vaginal sex. The risk increases if you have multiple sexual partners.
  • Have another STD. Many sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) produce open sores on your genitals. These sores act as doorways for HIV to enter your body.
  • Use intravenous drugs. People who use intravenous drugs often share needles and syringes. This exposes them to droplets of other people's blood.
  • Are an uncircumcised man. Studies indicate that lack of circumcision increases the risk for heterosexual transmission of HIV."

There are lots of websites out there with information on how HIV is spread, who is more at risk...but remember you need to be responsible for your own actions...

stress

ok so its the last week of the first class...My final exam is on Thursday... which means I am half way through first semester....as long as I pass...

Since I am stressed the best way to cope is to talk about it...and since I have to learn about stress and coping I thought I would share a little from my book...lets just see what pertains to me...

Clinical Manifestations of Stress...From Kozier & Erb
  • Pupils dilate (yep, probably from lack of sleep)
  • Sweat production (girls don't sweat we glow)
  • Heart Rate and Cardiac output increase (ok just a little, but i do drink a lot of coffee)
  • Skin is pallid (pale, um just a little but i am part vampire)
  • Sodium and water retention increase (um...)
  • rate and depth respiration increase (not yet)
  • urinary output decreases (not gonna tell you even if I did)
  • mouth may be dry (ok...)
  • peristalsis of the intestines decrease (mmm)
  • mental alertness improves (yeah maybe in some people)
  • muscle tension increases (could totally use a rub down)
  • blood sugar increases (maybe that's from all the candy I have been eating)
ok so not that bad...argh....like I said half way through

the one

So last night I got stood up…it wasn’t the first time…so after about a half a bottle of wine and a really bad chick flick “Working Girl” with crazy shoulder pads and big hair…my roommate came home…
No we didn’t fuck…sorry its not that kind of story….
Anyway while he was smoking his weed and I was drinking my wine, he told me I always end up picking the same type of guy…and they turn out to be assholes, we will call them shape shifters (from the onion video)…he said instead of focusing on the disappointment I should describe my perfect guy…and if the guy doesn’t fit into that mold…he’s not worth my time…lol
So we made up a fictional guy that would be perfect for me…we even named him….I thought it was funny so I’m Sharing

Jonathan….is his name
Has to be taller then me when I wear high heels, so lets say at least 6 foot…
A gentleman who opens the car door and doors to restaurants,
A guy who is only a little jealous, you know the kind that gives you a kiss when another guy is checking you out…then gives the guy the thank you look not the fuck off look…
A guy I can put my head on his shoulder and tell him about my day
Must love country music
Likes to dance
Has a job that helps people (gives back to the community) but makes good money too…lol
Must be clean
Can protect me if we were getting harassed
Takes out the trash
Cooking is not a necessity but he must be able to barbeque
Good at sex
At least 7 inches
Likes to share but only when I’m around, because its gotta be some sort of monogamy…

Nursing school

This is the first semester of Nursing School...It is a lot of work a lot of fun, stress, crying, and laughing. This section we work on the elderly patients who need long term care... I thought I was going to hate every minute of this section of the course, changing diapers, giving baths, dealing with the nurses, but in fact the opposite happened...I enjoyed every minute of it... I guess working in emergency medicine for so long I have seen a lot of bullshit...but these patients were really sick...and I felt like I was helping them...

I worked on the TCU unit at the hospital my first patient was a lady who had dementia. She would be able to eat on her own but she would forget what she was doing by the time she put the spoon down...I had to keep reminding her to eat. She had an adorable personality, always saying please and thank you. smiling at me when i would help her

My next patient was a woman who was admitted for A-Fib...she had a valve replacement and had been in the hospital for 3 weeks. she had good days and bad days, she put up with me as a student and i could tell she was trying so hard to be patient with me while i was asking her questions she had been asked a million times....

The third patient was a gentleman who had a lot of problems, CHF, COPD,and Pnuemona for part of them...Every morning he had to have a breathing treatment...He loved having me around it seemed...His family didn't come to visit, no one did...He said they were too busy for him....He mentioned his son had promised to bring him a pair of slippers a few weeks back....the slippers never arrived...I sat and talked to him for a while he had an interesting life and loved talking about it, Military service WWI, delivering Ice Cream to the White House, Having Coffee with the president, How he met his wife....

Next week will be my last week on the Unit...then I transfer hospitals and begin Med Surg....which will be a lot busier and have less opportunities to actually get to know my patients as people....
